Midnight Mini Massacre

Date: Saturday, August 13, 2011 @ 8 AM

Event: Midnight Mini Massacre

Route Distances: 100km Open Category

About the Ride: The Midnight Mini Massacre (USAC Permit 2011-2472) is a metric century gravel grinder starting at 8 pm near Ponder, TX. The route will primarily be made up of dirt/gravel roads as well as some short and desolate paved segments. The midpoint will swing through Decatur, TX for a bit of civilization and refueling capabilities. Headlights and tail lights are required but this should be an excellent way to beat the August heat in Texas and take in a new type of adventure.

Quick calculations give us about 20 miles of pavement spaced out over 3 sections of the route. Near the beginning is about 7 miles of pavement, the midpoint(ish) has another 6 mile section and then about 8 miles right at the end of the route is paved. Traffic should be almost non existent except for the 4 miles rolling through Decatur. And crossing 380 at the very beginning. The 380 crossing will be done in day light. It is a self supported ride so we won’t have aid stations or sag vehicles. There are convenience stores in Decatur that we’ll route by.

Red Hot Chili Pepper Bike Rally

Date: Saturday, August 20, 2011 – 7:30 AM

Event: 13th Annual Red Hot Chili Pepper Bike Rally — Road

Route Distances (Click here for route map): 20, 40, and 60 miles

About the Ride: We’re one of the biggest bicycle rally’s in Dallas, Texas. Our 13th annual rally will happen on Saturday, August 20, 2011. We also have a purpose behind this fun ride through the hills of Big D.

We are raising money for the children who make the Calument Community Center their second home. The center is in the middle of a low income area of southwest Dallas better known as west Oak Cliff.

Here parents can hardly even afford putting food on the table–let alone an expensive after school or summer program. That’s where the Calument Community Center comes into play.

The Red Hot Chili Pepper Rally is our biggest fundraiser each summer. Every dollar raised goes back into the Center’s summer and after school programs.
