About the Ride: The Texas Chainring Massacre is a full on gravel grinder featuring a unique combination of dirt roads and desolate country roads that promises to be both scenic and challenging. Riders will be able to enjoy a fantastic route that starts and ends in the “civilized” part of the D/FW Metroplex near Valley View, TX while meandering through some scenic rural areas..

The route can be run on a road bike (with fat rubber), or a mountain bike but riders shooting for the “win” will most likely utilize CX bikes. If you choose to take a road bike on the course please bring extra tubes because there are potholes and some rough sections of dirt road. The race course will fall under USA Cycling’s designation for Mountain Bike Ultra Endurance over 100 Kilometers (62 miles). We will also offer a fun ride with a distance under 45 miles.

This marked course ride will provide neutral aid/support stations but no outside support is allowed except at those aid stations. Plan to bring enough food and supplies to be self supported in case of break down since it might take several hours for a sweep/sag vehicle to reach stranded riders. 9am start time in Valley View, TX (address soon)

Additional details including maps/cue sheets will be available on www.Spinistry.com

All roads whether paved or unpaved are public roads subject to the regulations of the great State of Texas. Participants are required to obey all “rules of the road” and laws for the applicable jurisdiction(s) in which they operate their bicycles and/or other vehicles. This applies to both the featured event as well as any practice or warm up events. The Texas Chainring Massacre is an all weather event unless conditions are deemed unsafe for riders so there is a no refunds policy.

Heart of Texas Recumbent Rally

Date: February 23-24, 2013

Event: Heart of Texas Recumbent Rally 2013

Route Distances: The HOT is a 2 day rolling party for recumbent riders and their families to come together to ride, learn more about recumbent cycles, and hang out with those who share their passion for laid back riding.

About the Ride: Mark your calendars now for the 2013 Heart of Texas Recumbent Rally! The Second Annual HOT will be February 23-24 in Austin, Texas at Easy Street Recumbents. This two day recumbent culture festival is open to all those who love the recumbent life. The Rally will consist of rides, a good talking-to by Mike Librik (the Big Kahuna and owner of Easy Street), socializing, story swapping, and a super fun Recumbent Rodeo.

BENEFICIARY OF HOT 2013:
Easy Street Recumbents is proud to announce that ARFA of Texas will be the beneficiary of the 2013 HOT Recumbent Rally!
ARFA (Assistive Recumbents for All) is working very hard to raise funds in order to provide recumbent cycles for the physically and financially challenged who would have their lives enhanced be riding a recumbent. We all know how powerful the effects of riding a recumbent are in our lives.
So participating in the HOT just got even better — the money raised will go to help those in need be able to enjoy the incredible freedom that riding brings.
THE RIDES:
We got a lot of feedback from last year’s HOT, and one of the areas that we wanted to focus on this year is the rides. This year we have three rides on tap: Warrior Ride is a ridiculously long, fast journey of 40 or more miles, Semi-Tough is an intermediate roll of 20-25 miles, and Scenic Route which is just a plain old fun ride of about 15 miles for those who don’t like being targets on the street. There will be something for everyone. The HOT is NOT strictly a “ride.” In fact, we don’t offer all the whistles and bells of the usual “organized ride.”  We put our attention to the entire two days — not just the morning rides. So bring plenty of water and snacks if you want it — no rest stops. Make sure your cycle is in good shape. If you break down, we’ll have some one come and get you. But no fancy SAG or cycle repair along the way. At our rides, the riders look out for each other.  If we can find volunteers to do all the stuff, great. But don’t hold your breath. Come prepared.

Waco Wild West 100 Bicycle Tour

Date: Saturday, September 22, 2012 – 8 AM

Event: Waco Wild West 100 Bicycle Tour

Route Distances (Click distance for route maps):

About the Ride: The bicycle tour starts at 8:00 Saturday, September 22 at Indian Spring Park on University Parks Drive in front of the Waco Convention Center.  Riders will be staged in groups according to the distance they plan to ride.  All riders are required to wear a helmet.  For your safety and the safety of others around you, no headphones allowed.  Police will control most busy intersections but riders are required to obey all traffic laws.  Keep to the right and ride on road shoulders where possible.

Rest Stops

The Waco Wild West has a tradition of providing great rest stops.  They are staged at 3 mile intervals on the 10 mile route and every 10 to 15 miles on the longer routes.  The rest stops are stocked with water, sports hydration drinks, fruit, and snacks.

We have a “Best Rest Stop” contest so after the ride, be sure to vote for your favorite one on the Waco Wild West Facebook site at http://www.facebook.com/waco.wildwest?ref=pb

Sag Support

There will be many SAG vehicles patrolling the courses to help with minor repairs and to transport weary riders back to the start area.  Please be prepared to fix your own flat tires (bring a spare tube).

Hydration

The biggest challenge for cyclists is maintaining hydration on long rides, particularly if it is hot.  Know your limits and ride the distance you are capable of and have trained for.  Carry plenty of water, even if you plan to stop at each rest stop.
