Heart of Texas Recumbent Rally

Date: February 23-24, 2013

Event: Heart of Texas Recumbent Rally 2013

Route Distances: The HOT is a 2 day rolling party for recumbent riders and their families to come together to ride, learn more about recumbent cycles, and hang out with those who share their passion for laid back riding.

About the Ride: Mark your calendars now for the 2013 Heart of Texas Recumbent Rally! The Second Annual HOT will be February 23-24 in Austin, Texas at Easy Street Recumbents. This two day recumbent culture festival is open to all those who love the recumbent life. The Rally will consist of rides, a good talking-to by Mike Librik (the Big Kahuna and owner of Easy Street), socializing, story swapping, and a super fun Recumbent Rodeo.

BENEFICIARY OF HOT 2013:
Easy Street Recumbents is proud to announce that ARFA of Texas will be the beneficiary of the 2013 HOT Recumbent Rally!
ARFA (Assistive Recumbents for All) is working very hard to raise funds in order to provide recumbent cycles for the physically and financially challenged who would have their lives enhanced be riding a recumbent. We all know how powerful the effects of riding a recumbent are in our lives.
So participating in the HOT just got even better — the money raised will go to help those in need be able to enjoy the incredible freedom that riding brings.
THE RIDES:
We got a lot of feedback from last year’s HOT, and one of the areas that we wanted to focus on this year is the rides. This year we have three rides on tap: Warrior Ride is a ridiculously long, fast journey of 40 or more miles, Semi-Tough is an intermediate roll of 20-25 miles, and Scenic Route which is just a plain old fun ride of about 15 miles for those who don’t like being targets on the street. There will be something for everyone. The HOT is NOT strictly a “ride.” In fact, we don’t offer all the whistles and bells of the usual “organized ride.”  We put our attention to the entire two days — not just the morning rides. So bring plenty of water and snacks if you want it — no rest stops. Make sure your cycle is in good shape. If you break down, we’ll have some one come and get you. But no fancy SAG or cycle repair along the way. At our rides, the riders look out for each other.  If we can find volunteers to do all the stuff, great. But don’t hold your breath. Come prepared.
