Cow Creek Country Classic

Date: Saturday, June 22, 2013 – 7:30 AM start time

Event: 27th Anniversary Cow Creek Country Classic

Route Distances: 10 mile-in town family ride, 19, 36, 55, 78and 101 mile routes

About the Ride: The Cow Creek Country Classic Bike Ride is the Waxahachie Rotary Club’s major annual fund raising event. Each year’s ride is produced and presented by Rotary volunteers, students, Boy Scouts, and other civic volunteers from throughout Waxahachie and the surrounding communities. There are no paid employees.

Each year’s “Rider’s Dollars” are deeply appreciated and extremely important to Waxahachie Rotary and the community as a whole. We work quite hard to see that those dollars are well invested in improving the quality of life in the Waxahachie community. Over the past 25 years, your ride dollars have enabled the Waxahachie Rotary Club to:

  • Waxahachie Senior Center
  • Hope Clinic
  • Rotary Projects
  • Waxahachie Interact Club(s)
  • Community Service

Our ride is not a race, and will consist of 10, 19, 36, 55, 78 and 101 mile tours on a well marked course.

  • The 10 mile is a leisurely in-town tour of historic Waxahachie, with unique “Gingerbread Homes” and “National Historical Register Landmarks”, such as the octagon-shaped Chautauqua Auditorium in Getzendaner Park and the Ellis County Courthouse. All ages can participate with confidence of a safe ride. This year’s in-town ride will also utilize part of the new Hike ’n Bike Trail that Waxahachie has opened. The ride will also go through the downtown area, and if you want you may stop and eat or shop in the many antiques and arts & crafts shops around the square. This is an ideal ride for beginners, children and families seeking a fun morning together.
  • The 19, 36, and 55 mile tours go through some very beautiful, scenic parts of Ellis County.
  • The 78 and 101 mile tours are excellent rides through the beautiful countryside of Southwest and Southern Ellis County and parts of Johnson, Hill and Navarro Counties.

While most of the roadways are fairly flat, the longer routes do have some challenging hills.

All courses other than the Waxahachie City 10 mile are on paved rural state and farm roads, most of which have no shoulder. FOR YOUR SAFETY YOU ARE STRONGLY URGED TO RIDE SINGLE FILE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE TO ALLOW AUTOMOBILE TRAFFIC TO PASS. The finish takes you through Historic Downtown Waxahachie and into the back of the High School which will have less traffic.

Note:  All routes subject to last minute changes due to weather conditions or construction issues.

Davids Ride 2013

Date: Saturday July 6, 2013

Event: 8th Annual David Eikenburg Memorial Bike Ride 2013

Route Distances :

About the Ride: Consider making the trip to McQueeney, Texas in 2013 to honor our beloved pastor, father, husband and friend, David Eikenburg, who died tragically in a cycling accident on July 11, 2005. He died doing what he loved, but his first love and passion was to share the love of Jesus. Every year we honor him with this bike ride, remembering what he loved, and then to glorify God by continuing David’s legacy and passion for spreading the Good News to people everywhere. All proceeds go to Camp Agape, a Christian bereavement camp for children who have lost a loved one.

The date for our 8th annual ride will be held Saturday July 6, 2013. You can get involved even if you don’t cycle. We are always in need of donations and volunteers, so please let us know if you would be interested in serving God through this ministry.

Peach Pedal Bike Ride

Event: Peach Pedal Bike Ride 2013

Route Distances: 100K39 miles26 miles and 9 miles

About the Ride: The Peach Pedal Bike Ride is in its 25th year, and organizers expect more than 2,000 riders from across Texas and beyond for this year’s event on July 13. The ride, hosted by the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce and the Weatherford College Foundation, again features routes of 100 kilometers, 39 miles, 26 miles and 9 miles. All routes start and finish at Weatherford High School and feature the beautiful countryside of western Parker County.

Bring your camera–there are some beautiful views! We’re not going to lie to you–this course has some tough hills. But the hills are interspersed with flat stretches in beautiful western Parker County. Our 100K, 39-mile and 26-mile routes include periodic rest stops with drinks, snacks and rest rooms, as well as the fun folks of Parker County.

In 2008, we moved our start/finish and registration area to a new location–Weatherford High School on Interstate 20 and Bethel Road. The participants loved this new location, so we’ll be there again this year.

Registration will take place in “The Outback,” a separate building located to the east of the main building. The 100K starts at 7:30 a.m., the 39-mile starts at 7:45, and the 26-mile and 9-mile start together at 8:00.

Firecracker 100

Date: Saturday, July 6, 2013

Event: Firecracker 100 2013

Route Distances: 12 Mile, 24 Mile, 40 Mile and 100k

About the Ride: Firecracker 100 is an Annual Bike Ride and Race produced by the Stephenville Kiwanis Club

All routes are on US Highways, Farm to Market Roads and well-maintained, paved County Roads. The routes are the same as the last few years except for a few areas where improvements have been made.

Earth County roads consist of “ups” and “downs”. Most of the hills are not too long, but you’ll find some that go on for a while! And there’s even an occasional flat stretch, but they are few and far between.

One of the kinder things about the route is that the south wind will be to your back or your side, rather than in your face during the latter part of each route. That is, of course, if Mother Nature doesn’t play any tricks on us. The route format has been well received.
