About the Ride: The City of McKinney, McKinney Velo Club, Matrix Cycling Club and The Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas is proud to announce the 5th annual Wish 100 cycling event. This 60-mile ride through McKinney Texas and surrounding cities in Collin County will bring cycling enthusiasts from North Texas together to raise funds to help make wishes come true for children battling life-threatening medical conditions. Get in gear and join the anticipated 2,000 riders in Wish 100 today.

About the Ride: We welcome you to the 18th annual Vernon burnin’ bike ride.You are invited to join other cyclists as they blaze the roads of Wilbarger County.The ride promises to be fun and challenging,for the novice as well as the expert.So bring your water bottles and come prepared for a hot time.

Bicycle Rodeo & Mighty Kids Ride…

Kids 8 & under. Ride takes place in the parking lot. All riders receive prizes.

Entry Fee…will be $20.00 per person if pre-registered .Please pre-register so enough supplies will be available for everyone.After August 1st, all entry fees will be $25.00.Make checks payable to the Vernon Jaycees. Kids 14 & under receive a $5 discount.T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 100 preregistered riders.

About the Ride: This past year, the City of McAllen, Keep McAllen Beautiful, and Texas Forestry Service organized our first annual Arbor Day Challenge.  This year, we teamed up again to bring you an exciting, family-friendly event that will play an important role in “planting” the future for trees in our city.

This coming year, on January 25th, 2014, Keep McAllen Beautiful will be hosting the second annual Arbor Day Challenge.  We invite you to come out and participate with the rest of your community!  Get active, celebrate trees, and enjoy the beautiful RGV winter weather!

Ride for Heroes

Date: April 20, 2013

Event:  11th Annual Moritz Ride for Heroes

Routes Distance8, 23, 35, 44, 62, and 73 miles (Moritz Challenge)

About the Ride: The 11th annual Moritz Ride for Heroes will be on April 20, 2013. The start and finish lines are on the Aledo High School campus ( view Google Map). We have six scenic routes, ranging from 8 miles through 73 miles. And since the ride is in mid-April, Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes should be in bloom! Your entry fee includes a post ride lunch of grilled hamburger or hot dog, chips, and drinks.

The annual Moritz Chevrolet Ride for Heroes supports those organizations that protect and serve and make Eastern Parker County a better place to live. Proceeds from the bike ride are dispersed to the following organizations:

  • Aledo Fire Department
  • Hudson Oaks Fire Department
  • Willow Park Fire/Rescue
  • Parker County Sheriff’s Reserve
  • Parker County Center of Hope

In addition, the Ride for Heroes bike ride supports various student clubs from Aledo High School and the Texas Bicycle Coalition (working for safer cycling in Texas).

About the Ride:

Scenic routes of 26 (flat), 41 (moderate) & 62 (hilly) miles await you( aid stations every 15 miles and SAG support from Ride Away Bicycles ) topped off with an amazing brunch wrustled up by Magnolia Pancake Haus, to include their famous buttermilk pancakes, as you relax on the spectacular banks of the Medina River.  It truly is PANCAKES IN PARADISE.

Bring the family out for the day to join in the relaxation and fun.  They can hang out while you’re getting your miles in.  A suggested $10 donation for non-participants for the Magnolia Pancake Haus brunch.  Triathletes can even bring their swim gear for a little aqua-bike action in the river or running shoes to really build up an appetite for those delicious buttermilk pancakes.

San Antonio Tour de Cure

About the Ride: When you ride in San Antonio Tour de Cure, you take part in something unique. You can join the ranks of some of the most passionate people in this community who care about cycling, health and, above all, finding a cure for diabetes.

The group pictured above each raised over $5000, with Mr. Sloan raising well over $25,000 in the fight to Stop Diabetes. Raising a $1,000 or more this year is not as difficult as you may think.

When you reach $1000, you will automatically become a Champion to Stop Diabetes and will receive special recognition on the weekend of the event, along with special perks all year long!

If you raise $2,600, in honor of the 26 million Americans living with diabetes, you will become a Champion on a Mission and will receive the coveted gold Champions jersey.

Coldspring Forest Venture

Event: First Annual Coldspring Forest Venture Bike Ride

About the Ride: The Coldspring-Oakhurst Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Science Club will be hosting a supported bike ride on Saturday, November 9, as a fundraiser to cover the cost of science department classroom supplies and FBLA regional and state competitions. Beginning at the high school parking lot, the ride will span approximately 40 miles through the Sam Houston National Forest and rural countryside. A “supported bike ride” is one which offers rest stops and mechanical assistance to riders who pay a pre-registration fee of $30 to participate. Each of the four rest stops along the mapped trail will include snacks, drinks, restroom facilities, and encouragement for the riders. Join now for a great day of bike riding and supporting a great cause!

Deadline for pre-registration is October 31. Pre-registration price is $30. Costs after deadline are as follows:
11/1 – 11/7: $35
