Heaven and Earth may very well be defined as springtime in the Navidad Valley region around Schulenburg, Texas, where the fiery wildflowers break out through the beautiful rolling farmlands and near the Painted Churches. For cyclists of all skill levels, the Tour of Navidad Valley is an invitation to ride through this blissful land at its most colorful and serene. Whether you are tuning up for Texas’ major cycling events or playing the weekend warrior on wheels, the Tour of Navidad Valley will take your breath away via the area’s panoramic splendor.

The Tour of Navidad Valley is proud to announce that this year’s event will be hosted by Jordan Ranch, a magnificent new facility beautifully nestled away in the countryside five miles west of Schulenburg, just off of Interstate 10. Jordan Ranch has top-flight facilities and includes 21 hotel rooms (two of which are suites) that will allow Tour of Navidad Valley participants to arrive the day before, relax and rest up, and awake the next morning just steps from the starting line. A special discount rate of $125 (for up to three guests) or a suite for $250 (up to four guests) will be available for Friday, April 1; all rates include a light breakfast. About the Ride: Spokes ‘n Spursis a great Hill Country bike ride benefiting Spirit Reins!  Cyclists will start at the entrance to the ranch and enjoy a great cycling route with beautiful views, gently rolling hills and the wildlife ofthe Texas Hill Country. All ages and skill levels welcome. Coursedistances include 62.5, 44, 28, 14 miles & a 6 mile family ride.  Full SAG,Rest Stop and Mechanical support will be provided.  We will alsohave nurses at most rest stops, Motorcycle Special Events Team and BPMS150 bike ride marshals patrolling the route. A 5K Brick Workout is also available after the ride, the cutoff time to be back to pick up your bike is 2pm.  Be sure to sign up when you register!

Fort Davis Hammerfest

About the Ride: The West was never Wilder – welcome to Hammerfest! Race the “Texas Alps” one of the most challenging courses in the Southwest.

Stage one will start the climbing with a short, intense road stage. There are 10 miles to warm up, THEN 6 miles of real climbing (up to 17% grades) — enjoy!!! We will start in Fort Davis, Texas on Hwy 118 and climb our way to the top of Mt. Locke – location of McDonald Observatory.

Stage two will also begin in Ft. Davis on Saturday Afternoon — a 16 mile out & back time trial on fast, “flat”, straight roads. Stage three on Sunday morning, April 5th, will start at the Prude Ranch and wind through the mountains of the Scenic Loop. The altitude goes from 5000′ to over 6500′ and climbs are steep and numerous. The 74 mile route will have a neutral start through Ft. Davis then race around the loop to “Heartbreak Hill”. The 34 mile route will be an out and back from the Prude Ranch to Madera Canyon and back to “Heartbreak Hill” (a lot of climbing). The 16 mile race will start in Madera Canyon and race to “Heartbreak Hill”. And the 56 mile route will race from the “Point of Rocks” around the remainder of the loop and finish at “Heartbreak Hill”.

About the Ride: Make plans to enjoy a fabulous day of Texas springtime cycling in the luscious and calm countryside south of Dallas! For the 13th consecutive year, the Greater Dallas Bicyclists, together with the City of Lancaster, is staging the Lancaster Country Ride on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 9 am. Lancaster is a mere 15 minutes from downtown Dallas.

Join us as we cycle through the scenic countryside of Lancaster and surrounding areas. The routes traverse a variety of terrain, from flats to rolling hills, with a few challenging climbs. Rest stops every 10 or 12 miles with water, sports drink and fruit. The wildflowers are in full bloom in April and our routes feature picturesque meadows with dense concentrations of Bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush, and other colorful spring flowers.
