Goatneck Bike Ride

Event: 25th Annual Goatneck Bike Ride

Route Distances (Click distance for route maps)102741 and 69.5 miles

About the Ride: The Goatneck Bike ride is a rolling hill course which averages around 35 feet per mile of climbing.  Click on the Directions tab and go to the Routes layout page for (69.5, 41, 10 & 27) that provides elevation maps. The roads are well maintained country roads with little traffic. The prevailing winds during this time of year are from the southwest, which provides a tail wind for the last portion of the ride coming into the finish!  We provide rest stops every 8-9 miles on all courses.

Last year we had close to 2,500 riders.  We provide showers at the finish in the Cleburne High School basketball locker rooms, located in the gym registration area.

In an effort to keep our ride prices down and provide as low a cost ride as possible, we are not able to provide a meal afterwards.  All money raised goes to various Johnson County charities.  Last year we were able to donate over $30,000 to local charities because of the participation of the riders.

Tres Burritos Ride

Date: Saturday, July 21, 2012

Event: Tres Burritos Ride — Road

Route Distances :

  • Climb the hills – 42-mile ride in the Texas heat
  • Go the distance – 72 mile ride is for those who like to go the distance
  • Ride the Town – This downtown pedal is the perfect way to spend a summer morning with family and friends

About the Ride: The Tres Burritos Ride is actually three unique rides, each leaving from a different Bicycle Sport Shop location. One is hilly, one is long, and one is an easy family pedal. But all are loads of fun, raise money for a great cause, and end with cold drinks and hot burritos.

Proceeds from the Bicycle Sport Shop Tres Burritos Ride will go directly toward getting more Austin kids on bikes more often through Boltage, a program that tracks the number of times students ride their bikes to school and rewards them for their participation. In partnership with Trek and the City of Austin’s Safe Routes to School program, Bicycle Sport Shop will use the money raised from the ride to bring Boltage to at least one more Austin-area school by the end of 2012. Bicycle Sport Shop and its partners have already launched Boltage at Brentwood Elementary, Bryker Woods Elementary and Martin Middle School in Austin, and Patsy Sommer Elementary in Round Rock.

Climb the hills – If you’re looking for a hilly, 42-mile ride in the Texas heat, this is the punishment you’ve been looking for. Add speed to a cocktail of summer heat and long climbs, and you just may win the honor of getting your name on the coveted King of the Mountain trophy. We’ll celebrate your strong finish (and for coming out to raise money to get more Austin kids on bikes more often) with burritos, Real Ale and non-alcoholic drinks.

Go the Distance – This ride is for those who like to go the distance. It’s a metric century plus, with a whopping total of 72 miles. The course is relatively flat, but long, hot and all for a good cause. Turn around points will be available if you can’t stand the heat. We’ll celebrate your strong finish (and for coming out to raise money to get more Austin kids on bikes more often) with burritos, Real Ale and non-alcoholic drinks.

Ride the Town – This downtown pedal is the perfect way to spend a summer morning with family and friends and help us raise money to get more kids on bikes more often. Bring a chariot for the little ones, or pedal side-by-side to the Capitol. We’ll celebrate at the finish line with Burritos, Real Ale and non-alcoholic beverages.
