24 hours in the Canyon

Date: June 2-3, 2012

Event: 6th annual 24 hours in the Canyon

Route Distances: 24 Hours in the Canyon is a team or individual event in which participants can ride as far as their inspiration takes them. Riders are encouraged to set a personal and/or team goal of the amount of time they will ride.

About the Ride: 24 Hours in the Canyon is the only simultaneous 24 hour road bike and mountain bike event in the country. ALL funds raised from this event are donated to The Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center to assist in patient care. Please consider how you can participate in this uplifting event.

Q: Do I really have to ride for 24 hours?
A: The short answer is NO… unless you are racing competitively.  While there will be many people who will complete (or attempt) the 24 Hours solo, most participants choose to go about it as a team.  Non-Competitive teams may be made up of as many riders as you would like.  Your team may choose to attack the 24 Hours in many ways.  Here are examples of what some teams have done:

  • Assign hours to a specific rider so they know when they are riding.
  • Each rider rides when they want and for as long as they want.
  • Everyone sticks together — ride as a team & rest as a team

It is really up to you!

21st Annual Collin Classic

Date: June 9, 2012

Event: 21st Annual Collin Classic

Route Distances: 4, 20, 27, 32, 42, 48, 52 and 62 miles

About the Ride: The 21st Collin Classic is a rural bicycle rally that will start and finish at the McKinney North High School on Saturday, June 9, 2012. The ride begins at 8:00am.

Packet Pick-Up and Registration on the day of the ride open at 6:30am.

Offering routes of 4, 20, 27, 32, 42, 48, 52 and 62 miles, this event will attract families, weekend warriors and avid cyclists to celebrate life in a day filled with fun.

Our 4 mile route is a family-friendly loop, designed for the family with kids who are not ready for an open road ride – but want to see what a big bike rally is all about. In keeping with all our other routes, we have added some small hills for a bit of a challenge AND we have reworked the direction so that you start and finish in the same direction as all other routes. By utilizing the Finish Line as a Break Point, you can ride one, two or three laps, giving you distance options of 4, 8 or 12 miles.

Open Road Routes for 2012

Our longer routes will all begin by riding down to McKinney, through the Historic District and Downtown before heading out to the rural roads. We have also reworked all our longer routes to avoid FM545 and use some rolling county roads. This gives us distance options of 20, 27, 32, 42, 48, 52 or 62 miles. These are all single loop routes . We are travelling to the Northeast portion of Collin County, passing through Blue Ridge, Valdasta, Frognot, Climax, Altoga, Princeton and New Hope. Worried about missing out on the big hill at the finish of our old routes? Not to worry. We have rolling hills on our routes that will provide plenty of challenge.

Pedalers Party at the Finish Line

We are moving the post ride party out of the cafeteria and putting it outside by the Finish Line. We’ll have a BIG tent with fans and misters to keep you cool PLUS lots of cold treats. We’ll also have a special “Biker Bar” featuring Bikin’ Mike’s Cool Down Cocktail – a special non-alchoholic treat from our HHH experience.

The 21st Anniversary Collin Classic will have:

  •   SHOWERS are back!
  •   High-energy start/finish at the McKinney North High School
  •   Fully stocked break points along the way
  •   Support along the routes from area law enforcement personnel
  •   Roving bicycle mechanics providing technical assistance
  •   Medical support
  •   Post ride massage available (for a fee) by Finish Line Massage Therapy

Bring your family and friends. Come join the thousands of other cyclists for a two-wheeled adventure as we celebrate life.

Full Moon Fever

Date: Saturday, September 29, 2012

Event: Full Moon Fever

Route Distance: 41 and 64 Miles – View Route Maps here

About the Ride: Full Moon Fever is a metric century(ish) gravel grinder starting at 6 pm near Gainesville, TX. The route will primarily be made up of dirt/gravel roads as well as some short and desolate paved segments. Headlights and tail lights are required but this should be an excellent way to beat the summer heat in Texas and take in a new type of adventure.

We will also be offering a shorter 41 mile route as an alternate. This would make a great intro to gravel grinding or allows the early risers to get to bed at a decent hour.

Organizers will NOT be providing any sag vehicles or support during the route. You are welcome to have your own support vehicles out on the course if you are not comfortable participating in a self supported metric century at night.Staging area will be the parking lot of Fireworks World.

Location: Fireworks World – 7475 U.S. 82, Gainesville, TX
