About the Ride: A premier cycling festival featuring the best of the Texas Hill Country — with something for everyone — rides and races, expo and post-event party.

People from all over America are discovering the charm of the Texas Hill Country … Austin, Fredericksburg and Luckenbach … BBQ, Willie Nelson and the live music capital of the world.  This is the best Texas has to offer … clear streams, rolling hills, ranches, music and more miles of quiet paved country roads than anywhere else in America.  This is where Lance Armstrong lived and trained.  And this is where RAAM vet and former RAAM Race Director, Nick Gerlich, operates his “Texas Hell Week” — an early season training camp, attended by more RAAM vets than any other in the country.  Y’all come on down, ride or race, experience Texas hospitality and have some fun!
Our goal is to promote cycling and the healthy lifestyle though a series of weekend events held across the USA. These events include rides and races for cyclists of all abilities. Each event affords the opportunity for cyclists and others to learn about endurance bicycle racing. And each event includes a race where solo racers may attempt to qualify and teams may tune up for the Race Across America. Sign up and come out for a weekend of fun.

5th Annual LBJ 100 Bicycle Tour

Date: Saturday, March 24, 2012

Event: 5th Annual LBJ 100 Bicycle Tour

Route Distances (Click distance for route maps)10304262, and 85-miles

About the Ride: A Ride to Preserve History

Join us on Saturday, March 24, 2012, in the Texas Hill Country for a ride already touted as “an iconic Texas ride.” We’ve seen rapid growth: 1130 riders enjoyed the ride and post-ride festivities in 2011.

Starting and ending on the famed LBJ Ranch, the routes take riders under majestic live oaks, past historical landmarks that figured prominently not only in the Johnson family history, but also in U.S. presidential history. See the descendants of President Johnson’s famed Hereford cattle herd as you exit the Ranch. Thereafter, it’s on to spectacular Hill Country cycling — on smooth-surfaced ranch-market roads and bucolic country lanes that will take you back in time. Visit rural, historic Gillespie County schools that do duty as rest stops on this scenic tour. This is truly a “Ride to Preserve History.”

An added 85-mile route will provide new challenges while we continue the existing 62, 42, 30, and 10-mile routes. With a 9:00 AM staggered start, all routes start/end on the LBJ Ranch air strip.

We want all levels of riders to come out and make it a family event.

Following the ride, enjoy a delicious meal, hang with friends and fellow cyclists in the expansive food tent, and visit some of the vendor booths we’ll have, located next to the food area.

At 2:30 PM, don’t miss the Luci Baines Johnson-led tour of the historical landmarks on the Ranch. This look at the Johnson family legacy is included in the main rider registration fee – or you can register for this tour only – cost is the same. Hear Presidential history from someone who lived it! In addition, take a Ranger-led tour of the restored rooms in the Texas White House — also included for registered riders.

Our 36th President loved his ranch. He often conducted presidential business under the spreading oak trees, and he sought solace here from the rigors of the presidency.

Texas Hill Country

Date: April 7 to 13, 2012

Event: Texas Hill Country Cycling Adventure

Route Distances: 298 Miles (Average Miles Per Day: 59.6)

About the Ride: If you’ve been led to believe that all of the Lone Star State is pancake flat, this weeklong bike tour through the rolling Texas Hill Country will dash away that notion.

This cycling adventure begins and ends in New Braunfels, a small town deep in the heart of Hill Country. We’ll make our way on quiet farm and ranch roads through this region of Texas celebrated for its dazzling displays of spring wildflowers – most notably bluebonnets, which grow so thickly, they sometimes appear to be distant lakes on the horizon.

We’ll visit historic settlements including Blanco, Luckenbach, Fredericksburg, and Johnson City, and we’ll parallel crystal-clear streams, surmount oak-covered hills, and camp beside rivers with names that evoke the old Southwest (e.g., Guadalupe and Pedernales). Along the way, German-style biergartens, Texas barbecue, and Tex-Mex specialties will tempt our taste buds. And we’ll surely succumb to these temptations on a regular basis on this, one of our most popular trips.

Registration includes lunch: turkey sandwich, chips, ice tea, water or lemonade.
