Big Thicket Bike Tour

This year we are in partnership with the BTX Peloton Cycling Club to once again offer a ride in the beautiful Big Thicket area of Southeast Texas.  This is a time of year when the spring flowers are beginning to bloom and the temperatures of favorable. The ride begins at the Big Thicket Baptist Church across the road from the Big Thicket National Preserve headquarters. We will have 14, 25, 48 and 65 mile routes and a delicious barbecue lunch at the conclusion of the ride. The fourteen mile ride will be along the Kountze hike and bike trail with a rest stop provided by the Super 8 hotel in Kountze. The Super 8 will also have a 60.00 room rate if 10 rooms are booked for this event. There will be camping available at the Kountze City Park just south of Kountze on highway 69. There are bathrooms available at this park. So you can enjoy the camaraderie of follow cyclists the night before the big event and only be a few miles from the ride start the next morning. There will be a raffle for a 3 wheel bike at the site. There will be no packet pickup before the ride. We have changed the routes this year to make the ride more rural and to avoid construction areas and traffic. We think you’ll be pleased with the change. This ride will go on rain or shine so long as severe weather does not threaten. The ride will begin at 8AM and conclude by 4PM.

Event details and schedule

• Registration the day of the ride will begin at 7AM. Maps will be available both on paper and on Strava. Parking is available onsite and along FM 420. You must wear a helmet and have a signed waiver. Reststops will be positioned along the course and SAG support will be provided. There will be no pre-ride packet pickup.
