Why join the Freeze Your Fanny Ride?

This is a great ride that has been improving every year for over two decades. There is a variety of distances and challenges offered for different skill levels. We even have a kid route. Additionally, an new route was introduced a few years ago that has proven to be a tough, hilly ride.

How long has your ride been around?

This race has been around 26 years, and we hope to see many more!

What was the motivation behind starting the ride and who benefits from it?

This is the only fundraiser of the year for the East Texas Lightnin’. The funds go to support them and their efforts with Special Olympics events.

Logistically can you give us an idea of how many volunteers, finances and planning it takes to put on this event?

They’ve had the same coordinators and volunteers for 20 years. Local businesses chip in to provide food and drinks, volunteers run the check points.

Do you have a map of the start facility showing registration, parking, all toilets, water/snacks, start line?

What is the most rewarding experience of hosting this event?

Seeing all of our returning riders year after year is very rewarding. The ride has been going on for 26 years, so we have riders from all ages. Also, seeing all the support we get from everyone to riders and volunteers.

What is the average number of participants?

About 300 cyclists, and the numbers are ever growing.

What can folks do to support you and your mission?

This is the biggest fundraiser of the year; they are supporting a great cause – individuals with disabilities.

Anything else you’d like to tell folks about this ride?

We would love for you to come out and support our mission. We also have a 5k and 10k runners race on the same hills, for your non-cyclist friends.
